Carl Alexander, PGA – Director of Golf
As Director of Golf, Carl manages the Golf Operations while maintaining a full-time teaching schedule. Carl grew up playing golf at the Westchester Country Club, where he won both the Junior and the Men’s Club Championships and where he set a course record of 62 on the South Course. As the President of the Metropolitan PGA Section, Carl is a leader in the Metropolitan NY area. Many of Carl's assistants have gone on to secure their own Head Professional positions and his influence on PGA Education has been important to the Section. His teaching articles have appeared in many golf publications and his students have ranged from PGA TOUR Players, Junior Champions and College All-Americans to Amateur tournament winners. Carl's numerous professional and amateur victories - combined with his appearances in PGA TOUR events - have established him as one of the best players in the Metropolitan Section.
Prior to Purchase, Carl was a Lead Instructor at the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf in Orlando, FL; Director of Instruction at the Pine Hollow Country Club on Long Island; and the Head Professional at the GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford, NY. Carl has honed his teaching skills from many noted professionals such as Jim McLean, "Lighthorse" Harry Cooper, Fred Griffin and legendary professional Phil Rodgers. He has been named by the Metropolitan PGA Section as a Teacher of the Year and by Golf Digest as one of the Top Teachers in the State. In 2012 Carl was given the National Horton Smith Award by the PGA of America for his work in PGA Education; and in 2016, he earned the Metropolitan PGA Section's Senior Player of the Year award.
